So, how exactly does this program work?

The basic format of Artists in the Parks is that the PIPC will offer member artists VIP parking access (free parking in lots where you usually have to pay, and seasonal roadside pull-off privileges) as well as the opportunity to contract individually with various visitors’ centers to sell their work on consignment. Depending on the site, this might mean anything from original pieces to artist-created note cards or postcards.

Artists will also have the opportunity to organize paint-outs, exhibits, and sales in the parks. Members can also collaborate together to use the PIPC/Artists in the Parks name for putting together group exhibits outside the Park’s borders.

Artists give back to the park by allowing fair use of at least 2 high-resolution images of work they create in the park per year for promotional and educational material (newsletters, flyers, study guides, etc.), and by donating a percentage of proceeds from sales of work created in the parks. Our artists are actively participating in the conservation of the Palisades region both by capturing the beauty of the area in art and by generating financial support for the continued protection of the land.
